2012 Color of Year

It is that time of year again-what is the Pantone Color of the Year? Number 17-1463, it is!!!Tangerine Tango.

This reddish orange, according to Pantone, "continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward." To refresh your memory, Pantone has developed a color system and technology that helps us interpret color in a variety of industries.  It basically unified how we can identify colors for furniture, paint, fabric, etc.  To find out more go to their website-they even have the different color language formulas for this and all of their colors...(I don't want to confuse anyone, so google it for more info.)

Orange is considered a happy color, less intimidating than yellow or red, but definitely a "I am confident with my decisions" color!  Pantone is quoted as saying:  "Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.  'Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.' ”

Maybe you don't want to go that red with your orange choice...This dining room photo shows more of a burnt curry/pumpkin- a color my daughter(see above) and a family friend have painted in their home.  I love that they were confident enough to try it!

Why not bring in pillows with this snappy color? A bedsread, tabletop accessories, or paint a wall in your home with this energetic color. Personal devices and appliances are also available in this color-if you just don't want to commit that far!

What happens at the Aria, stays at the Aria...

What or where is the Aria?  Vegas, of course!  And what was I doing there, besides shopping, was taking pictures and oohing and ahhing over it all.

I was lucky enough to stay at the Aria because I tagged along while my husband attended a class there.  Of course there is alot to see in Vegas in general, it is all about being bigger, more showy and  more grand than anywhere else...

The Aria Resort and Casino, Las Vegas is a AAA  five diamond rated hotel with 4004 rooms in two 51 and 61 floor towers with curved glass and steel that meet in the center.  To quote their Facebook page:  "Among the notable aspects of Aria is its incorporation of technology in the exterior and interior of the hotel, specifically for the reduction of energy consumption>  It is the largest hotel in the world to have earned LEED Gold certification.  On account of its smart rooms which automatically adjust curtains, turn off lights and electronics, and regulate temperature when a guest enters or leaves a room, Aria was described in Popular Mechanics as possibly 'the most technologically advanced hotel ever built.' "

This first picture is of a leather wallpaper hung near the elevators.  The swirls are stitched into the leather.  Very COOL!!!

This wallpaper made of leather with the colorful stitching.

This "artwork" hangs near the spa and health club area.  It was made of solid colored silk fabric sewn onto the base in wavey style lines.

The closet are of the rooms had the center console of drawers and 2 closets, one on each side.  The closets had lights that turned on and off when opened and shut, consecutively.
Very dark wood with simple embellishment of silver running through it was a modern touch.
Closet area.

The main area of the room was equipped with an iPad type device that could control curtains, temperature, tv channels, and an alarm clock.  Bronze with embroidered aubergine motif silk bedding, the softest pillows on the planet, dark aubergine velvet pillows, headboard of the aubergine velvet against a beautiful  backdrop of wood and silver.  (P.S. the pillows and bedding were available for purchase in their retail shop.)
Bed area.

Desk, tv and fridge area was very simple, yet elegant.  Wall on right was full length glass looking outside.

The view out of the full-length window in our hotel room was down to this awesome canoe sculpture located in front of the Vdara Hotel and Spa. (Picture was found on Rex's Blog and Casino Guide.)  Pretty cool, huh?!?!?

Even the ceilings in the lobby area had huge cut-outs made of dark woodIf you have a chance to stay there, it is well worth it!

I hope you have a healthy, happy New Year!  I hope to inspire you to surround yourselves with beauty!
